Gun Keeley, the only son of the powerful Keeley family, loved and spoiled by his mother and father. Diagnosed with IED, he’s got a short fuse, but being their only child after years of trying, his parents overlook it and give him whatever he wants. Gun grew up thinking the world revolved around him.

Standing beside a blood-stained bed, he spoke at the person accessing his mind. “So, you’re supposed to be me? From another timeline?”

“Yes,” the voice answers, strangely calm. “I’m you.”

Gun rolls his eyes. “I’m not saying I don’t believe it, but… you’re kind of an idiot, aren’t you?”

“What?” his double snaps.

“I mean, you went and messed everything up in a world gone to hell. You couldn’t even wait for people to adapt before treating them like animals? Giving them crumbs while you dined in front of them? Letting them starve and using any woman left as… whatever you felt like?”

“Like you wouldn’t do the same.” His double smirks. “Those were just the useless ones.”

Gun shakes his head. “No, I’d be smarter than you. Just watch me handle things better. You keep failing because you act first and think later.”

His double sneers. “I’d like to see you try.”

Gun sighs, looking down at the bruised woman lying in front of him. He feels something he hasn’t felt in a long time: doubt. “Should we… call a doctor?”

His double voice taunts him in his mind. “your choice.”

Gun sighs again, ignoring the voice. He’s done listening. He’ll prove he’s the smarter one, and if the world does fall apart, he’ll be ready for it—his way.
